Disability Advocacy

Kathy has worked on many projects within the realm of disability advocacy.

“When the Ordinary is Extraordinary: The Family ‘To-Do List’ Campaign” in People and Families magazine, published by the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities, Fall 2012.

As president of the Family Support Coalition of New Jersey, Kathy worked with Bonnie Brien, Statewide Coordinator of the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities’ Regional Family Support Planning Councils, to collect daily “To Do” lists from parents caring at home for a child with developmental disabilities. The lists were then compiled and sent to local, state, and federal policymakers so that they had a better understanding of the day-to-day challenges confronted by the people on whose behalf policymakers were making funding and other service system decisions. See below for a PDF of sample to-do lists, or go to the Family Support Coalition of New Jersey website.
